About Our Superintendent

In June of 2020, the All Board Chairs (ABC) Committee announced Mrs. Lisa Carter as the Interim Superintendent of Region One to begin her responsibilities on July1, 2020.

Mrs. Carter has been an educator in Region One for more than 17 years, serving as Assistant Superintendent since 2017 and Principal of Salisbury Central School from 2011-2017. She began her education career as a Social Studies teacher at Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 2002, where, in addition to being an exceptional teacher, she collaborated with her colleagues to initiate the relationship with the Shandong Experimental School in Jinan, China and the Civic Life Project, a program that teaches civics to students through the production of documentary films.

Prior to teaching, Carter worked for the U.S. State Department, where she helped to write the curriculum to teach Foreign Service Officers how to speak Mandarin Chinese. She then worked for Union Oil Company of California, where she focused on the development of programs and relationships in China. She also served as a general management consultant with the Hay Group, specializing in organizational effectiveness and management succession planning.

Ms. Carter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mandarin Chinese and a minor in Business from Georgetown University, a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, and a second Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University.

Mrs. Carter looks forward to collaborating with the Board of Education members, teachers, parents, students, and community members in Region One.  She remains committed to the safety of and success for all and is proud to be a member of the Region One team.
