Alexandra Juch Appointed by the Canaan (Falls Village) Board of Education as Principal of Lee H. Kellogg School.

FALLS VILLAGE —On Tuesday, May 8, 2018, the Falls Village Board of Education formally selected Alexandra Juch as its new principal, effective July 1, 2018.

Mrs. Juch has served as the Interim Principal at Lee H. Kellogg School for the 2017-2018 school year. From 2010-2017, she was a media specialist at North Canaan Elementary School.

Mrs. Juch has worked with staff to create the School-Community Partnership meetings during this past school year. She has also been an active participant in the Falls Village Community Partnership Meetings held to discuss the future planning for the school district. When at North Canaan, she started the Douglas Library Community Partnership to establish a Summer Reading program for students that has been in place since 2011. She established a Canaan Child Care Center Community Partnership to provide a weekly school-based reading program and integrated the program into school curriculum. In 2012, she launched a sustainable Personalized Kindergarten Summer Reading Program to support the Early Literacy initiative that resulted in 100% student participation and higher returning student reading levels. Based on this work, Mrs. Juch also wrote and was awarded one of 476 privately-funded James Patterson Scholastic Reading Club Partnership Grants in 2016 out of 800,000 applicants.

Mrs. Juch holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Western Governors University. In 2013, she graduated from Fairfield University, with a Master of Arts degree in Educational Technology. She holds her Sixth Year Certification in Educational Leadership from Sacred Heart University and certification in Intermediate Administration and Supervision. She is certified to teach elementary education for grades K-6 and has certification for library media for grades K-12.

The search/interview committee was led by Dr. Vogel and was comprised of board members, central office administrators, community members, and school staff. The team met initially to select six candidates to interview. The six semi-finalists were narrowed to three finalists, when it was then determined that Mrs. Juch was the choice of the interview team, based upon her strong commitment to the programs and mission of the Lee H. Kellogg school.

Dr. Pam Vogel, Region One superintendent, stated, “LexieJuch  understands the close-knit community that makes up Falls Village and she will build upon those attributes. Lexie has demonstrated a strong willingness to further the programs that Lee H. Kellogg School has in place to benefit students and has shown her desire to work collaboratively and lead her colleagues. From her past experience as a media specialist, she knows that literacy is key to each child’s success. She has the support of her staff and will continue to further the work being done, focusing on establishing high expectations for every one of our students.”
