Town of Kent
Kent was incorporated in 1739, has a population of about 2,960, and covers an area of 49.6 square miles. Its principal industries are agriculture, tourism and manufacturing. Located on Route 7 north of Danbury and New Milford in the Housatonic River Valley, Kent is a peaceful town with friendly citizens who contribute to their community. Kent is governed by a Board of Finance, a Board of Selectmen and Town Meeting.
Kent is primarily a residential town, well known for its four educational institutions, the private schools of Kent School, Marvelwood School, and South Kent School, and the public K-8 elementary school of Kent Center School.
Popular recreational areas in the town are Kent Falls, Macedonia Brook State Park, Lake Waramaug State Park and Wyantenock State Forest. On weekends Kent is a bustling tourist town where visitors flock to the antiques shops and art galleries on Main Street.
