The Regional Professional Development Committee
The Regional Professional Development Committee is responsible for planning, conducting, and evaluating district staff development programs to support, state, federal, and district initiatives. Region One's Professional Development Program is supported by funds contributed by all seven schools. Local school budgets also include funding for site-based professional development. Additionally, the committee functions to:

establish a communication link among Region One schools

coordinate regional, school, and individual professional development programs as deemed appropriate

develop and implement regional-level professional development programs to support curriculum initiatives

develop and implement regional professional development programs to support state and federal initiatives

develop evaluative strategies for regional professional development programs
-
perform summative and cumulative evaluation of regional professional development programs

review and approve individual professional development plans that are endorsed by principals
-
review for approval all CEU requests

identify the responsibilities of the Professional Development Program Manager

review and approve funding requests for school and individual professional development plans
-
communicate to school and regional personnel the implementation of professional development programs
-
identify appropriate personnel, programs and human resources for professional development programs and activities at the regional and local levels

develop evaluation designed for professional development activities specific to the individual professional develop plans

provide the superintendent with an annual update of the Region One Professional Development Program
-
develop appropriate procedures to perform triennial evaluation of the Region One Professional Development Plan and complete the review in accordance with the Connecticut State Department Guidelines for Professional Development Plans.

disseminate information regarding state teacher certification to regional personnel

Length of Service
The length of service will be three (3) years. Note: standing members will be the Assistant Superintendent, 2 principals and 1 representative from Pupil Services.
