Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
The Federal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) allows eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave in a 12-month period. Here is a link to the
US Dept. of Labor FMLA Employee Rights which explains leave entitlements, benefits & projections, eligibility requirements, info on requesting leave, the employers responsibilities and enforcement. It is important to note, Pursuant to Conn. Gen. Stat. 31-51rr(a)(2), school paraprofessionals in an education setting who have worked only 950 hours are entitled to the same FMLA rights as those who meet the 1,250 hour requirement.
If you would like to apply for FMLA Leave, please complete the FMLA Application Form which can be found on your Frontline Central Home screen. The Central Office will get back to you within a few days with more information. If you don't hear from anyone within 5 days, please reach out to Michelle Curtis at mcurtis@region1schools.org or via phone at (860) 824-0875.
