Kent Center Board of Education Approves Michelle Mott as New Principal of Kent Center School

Kent, CT (May 25, 2018) – 

Mrs. Michelle Mott has been selected to serve as the next Principal of Kent Center School, beginning on July 1, 2018. A selection process established by the Kent Center Board of Education involved several levels of interviews with board members, teachers, central office administrators, support staff, parents and members of the community. Final interviews included representative members of these same groups, with final selection made by the Board and Central Office. Mrs. Mott was the unanimous choice for the position.

Mrs. Mott has served as a teacher at Kent Center School for the past nine years. Prior to that time, she taught third grade in Jacksonville, Florida, followed by a position as a long- term third grade substitute teacher at Pomperaug Elementary School in Southbury. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Central Connecticut State University and went on to receive a Master of Science Degree in Reading and Language Arts from Central Connecticut State University. She earned her Sixth Year Certification in Educational Leadership from Sacred Heart University and Central Connecticut State University. 

Michelle Mott has taken on lead roles in a number of ways at Kent Center. Having served as Kent Center Teachers’ Association President for several years, she was involved in teacher negotiations and other district and regional decision making meetings that impacted teachers and service to the school.

“During her tenure at Kent Center, Michelle has built relationships and has earned the respect of staff and students that made her a clear choice for this position. Kent Center takes great pride in the programs and opportunities that are offered to its students. We fully expect that Michelle will continue to communicate the attributes of the school to students, staff, parents and the community. She will be fully prepared to provide the support that everyone in the school needs and to expand upon creative opportunities that attract students and families to the school. We welcome her to this new position and know that she will be a team builder and collaborative member of the Kent Center Team and Region One”, said Dr. Pam Vogel, Superintendent of Region One Schools. 

Michelle Mott will begin her role as Principal at the beginning of the new school year on July 1, 2018.
