Falls Village, CT: At a special meeting on May 31, 2022, the Region 1 Board of Education appointed Dr. Jeanine M. Rose its new Assistant Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1, 2022. Dr. Rose, a resident of Bloomfield, currently serves as Interim K-12 Coordinator of Curriculum and Instruction in the Suffield Public Schools. Prior to assuming this role, she served for seven years as a Suffield’s Grades 6-12 Humanities Curriculum Coach.

Jeanine began her career teaching English at Rockville High School in Vernon. After one year, she began a long tenure in Suffield where she spent eight years teaching Language Arts in the Middle School. In 2008, Dr. Rose joined the staff at Suffield High School as an English teacher, a role she held until she was named Curriculum Coach in 2015.

The 15-member Region 1 Assistant Superintendent Search Committee was chaired by Douglas Cahill who said, “The Search Committee has taken the search for our new assistant superintendent seriously.  We listened carefully to our stakeholders who participated in focus groups and a survey.  We spread the net wide in our search for candidates and were pleased with the caliber of our applicants.  Dr. Rose impressed the committee with her passion for supporting teachers in professional development, knowledge of resources to support student learning, and is savvy about data-informed decision-making.  She understands our local communities and Boards of Education, and will be an asset to Region One.”

Superintendent Lisa Carter echoed Cahill’s enthusiasm about bringing Dr. Rose on board. “Jeanine has proven her success and leadership in building strong teams by collaborating closely with teachers, administrators and staff to foster professional growth and student engagement. I look forward to working with her to continue to support the good work we are doing in Region 1.”

Dr. Rose earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Connecticut. She earned her Master of Arts in English Literature and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University.

Jeanine said, “I am excited to join this wonderful district and to use my creativity and passion for education in a place I can call home.”

The Region 1 Board was guided in its search by Dr. Mary Broderick of CABE Search Services. She gathered perspectives from many stakeholders before writing a Leadership Profile that guided the Search Committee.
